Privacy policy

Effective November 6, 2026. This policy applies only to Sacred Texts Code Backup, a private administrative tool operated by Jim Marchbank for Youth Read Sacred Texts Worldwide.

Google information accessed

With administrator authorization, the tool reads source files and the manifest from the designated Google Apps Script project. Code may contain configuration values or information embedded in source files. It is not a registration-data processing service and does not read Gmail messages.

Use and storage

Source content is used only to create and verify dated backup archives. Archives and a file inventory containing checksums are saved in the administrator’s private Google Drive. The tool stores the backup folder identifier and last successful backup details in its own script properties. Google Apps Script execution logs record operational results, file counts, and backup links.

Permissions

The tool requests permission to view Apps Script projects, manage only Google Drive files used with this app, connect to Google API services, and run on a time-based schedule. Its source-project access is read-only. Drive permission supports creating and verifying its backup files.

Sharing and retention

The tool does not intentionally share archives publicly, sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to third-party AI training systems. Google provides the Apps Script and Drive infrastructure. Administrators remain responsible for account access and any manual sharing. The tool does not automatically delete old archives; the administrator can delete them in Drive.

Control and removal

The administrator can stop recurring backups by deleting the backup project’s time-based trigger, revoke the app’s access in Google Account connections, and delete backup archives in Drive. Revoking access does not itself delete existing archives. Use of Google API information follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
